Custom Old West Hat Bands.

New in 2011 is our custom line of hand made hat bands. Our creative and original designs are just the thing to jazz up an old hat. The designs are different enough to appeal to most people, and a great gift for any cowboy that likes to stand out from the herd!

Our form and function design approach is like a cowboy - pretty straight forward. Less is more, simple is elegant, and we believe most people would prefer designs that aren't worn by the masses.

Our Hat bands that are dyed - like Shotgun Willie at left - have a minimum of 2 coats of dye, the leather is then buffed and sealed. Our dyeing procedure produces a natural aged look. We use high quality leather from small sample pieces and overages from larger projects. When the leather runs out, we switch to a new one and carry on with the same design. DESIGN NOTE
Our custom Hat bands, like our hats are made by hand. Cuts may be slightly irregular - compared to manufactured Hatbands cut and assembled by machine. Each band is unique, well made and will last. Your hat band will be similar but not exactly what is seen here. If you expect perfection please buy your own mass produced, machine made hat band, of which there are tens of thousands to be found online. Thank-you.

We've adapted a horn slider (SEEN AT RIGHT) so every hat band ties off at the back and is held in place by light pressure. It's surprisingly fast and you can easily take our hatband off and put it on a different hat.

Simply remove your old hat band (If your current hat band is glued down you need to be careful, because you will have problems) Then put your hat on. While looking in the mirror slide your new Last Best Hat Band over and down the crown, centre the design, then reach behind the hat and pull the slider tight. A dang fine fit every time.

All our hat bands tie off at the back in this unique manner. Another design innovation from Longfellow and The Last Best West. Gap between the two ends will vary from hat to hat.

When we started our hat catalogue it was based on historical photos and original mail order catalogues from the late 1800's and the early decades of the 20th Century.
