Seriously, a couple of ripping hats, thanks so much. The black one {Open Range} perfect, the Clint {Blondie Sharpshooter hat from The Good The Bad and The Ugly} one has had the brim on one side bent up a little in transit which makes it unbalanced looking, Karen says we could steam it and push back somehow should we try that? Thanks to Mr. Ingalsbe we found out the hat style is based on the Civil War era "Andrews hat" designed to fold in half for easy packing. This odd hat style is said to have originated in 1850s Texas. FYI: Our hat is NOT meant to be folded! This picture is from Bills' participation in the annual Little Big Horn Battlefield re-enactment that takes place on the anniversary of Custers' Folly; - every June 25th and 26th.

I've only owned 1 cowboy hat prior to this hat when i was a kid. I would have never guessed !00% beaver makes as much difference as it does. i will live my last day with this hat on. cold days, hot days, very wet days, this hat just works. One of the first things i noticed was the more miserable the weather, the more I appreciate the quality of my hat. I really liked my hat as soon as I got it, but after giving the hat a short break in period, (i found out the best way to break in a hat, is to wear it!) it is now my old friend. No friggin wonder why cowboys, bushmen, and plainsmen relied on and wore this style of hat made out of 100% pure beaver fur felt.

ps, I really did do an awful lot of research on hatters, and their material and methods of making hats before I took my measurements. There were about 3 hatters I would consider dealing with, I bought yours. Oh ya, I do live a country lifestyle, but you dont need to be a cowboy to need a good lid! A very sincere thank you, Ray.

Last Best Note: From the time we first started talking about a special rifle sheath - until Greg had it in his hands took about 4 months. Maybe a little more. Our best clients understand the craftsman's axiom: Good work takes time and nothing worth having comes cheap. It took a lot of research to get the Searcher's sheath right, and we think we may have produced something better than the original. Decide for yourself.

At my age this will be the last hat I purchase. My last, a "Charlie One Horse," lasted about thirty years. It will provide protection from the elements as I fish the wild rivers of Alaska and the Yukon Terr.
