At my age this will be the last hat I purchase. My last, a "Charlie One Horse," lasted about thirty years. It traveled around the world with me as I worked and will be getting a suitable place in the den as it is full of memories and tells many tales. I dearly love the ratty old lid.

My new hat will accompany me for what I hope will be many years. It too will soon have many stories, some true and others perhaps a bit inflated, to tell. I'll use it to fan camp fires in the Russian Far East, where a cowboy hat still elicits stares and comments. It will provide protection from the elements as I fish the wild rivers of Alaska and the Yukon Terr. But mostly, it will tell people that I am a man of the west, the outdoors . . . as individual and indestructable as the hat.
