Our
Master Hatter
When Monty's not busy making cowboy hat's
for The Last Best West he still manages
to spend time as a working cowboy - when
the call comes from his wife's family
for branding, roundup, and even the odd
cattle drive. You may be able to take
the Cowboy off the trail, but you'll never
take the trail out of the Cowboy. . .
.
Brad's
brother, Scott Montague, is a professional
rodeo competitor and became one of the
sports top Bareback Riders. Scott's gone
to the NFR three times and won the prestigious
Calgary Stampede Bareback Crown in 2002.
Scott
still rides competitively today.
Masters
of Rodeo Custom Western Hats
Each year many of the competitors at the
National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas wear
our quality custom hats. In 2007 seven
of the fifteen NFR Qualifiers in Bareback
and one bulldogger, one team roper, and
four saddle bronc riders, all wore our
hats. When the dust settled at the
2007 NFR, of those elite cowboys the Champion
bare back rider, Bobby Mote, was wearing
one of our hats. Good riding Bobby!
The
Calgary Stampede Rodeo, like
the NFR, is by invitation only.
Every year the top 15 Cowboys in the world,
in each discipline, are invited to compete
over the rodeo's ten days, in early July.
Since 1912 the Calgary Stampede has been
"The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth",
and is the single largest payday in Rodeo
today. From Ladies Barrel Racing to Bull
Riding, the winner's all go home with
a cool 100,000 in Canadian cash. Our
congrats to Canadian Davey Shields Jr.
for winning the bare back championship
at the 2007 Calgary Stampede. Our hat
never looked so good!
The
competitors at the first Calgary Stampede
in 1912 were mostly working cowboys, who
rode for decent prize money, but mostly
for bragging rights. American Cowboys
won most of the competitions, but the
crowd favorite was a local cowboy. Tom
Three Persons got out of jail just hours
before riding the most notorious saddle
bronc of the day, Cyclone, to a standstill.
